One of the most frustrating conversations someone can have today is in regards to bacon. Modern definitions have been totally corrupted. Most people are unwilling to do an ounce of research to discover the truth about bacon.
Turkey bacon IS NOT bacon.
The word “bacon” originally identifies a specific meat product made from pork. The curing and smoking methods are secondary characteristics, not the defining characteristic. Therefore, turkey bacon is not actually bacon—it is turkey prepared in a bacon-like style.
We don’t generally define meats solely by preparation.
- Ham comes from a pig.
- Pastrami traditionally comes from beef.
- Venison comes from deer.
If I cure and smoke a turkey leg, I haven’t created ham. I’ve created cured turkey. Get it? Likewise, curing and smoking turkey doesn’t magically transform it into pork. If someone says:
“I had bacon for breakfast.”
Virtually everyone assumes pork.
If someone served turkey bacon without telling you, many people would consider that misleading because the default meaning of bacon is pork.
The need for the adjective “turkey” proves it is a different thing.
The term “turkey bacon” became popular largely because consumers wanted a substitute for pork bacon. Calling it “bacon” leverages the reputation and familiarity of pork bacon. Turkey bacon is named by analogy, not identity. It is called bacon because it resembles bacon, not because it actually is bacon.
Modern definitions are WRONG. STOP perpetuating the LIE that Turkey is or can be bacon!
So for people who are calling Turkey bacon, it is not. And the fact that you insist on calling it that is what is leading to the demise of Western Civilization.
Stop. Stop it now. There is absolutely no reason for you to speak such blasphemy. If you continue, then damn you, and may God have mercy on your soul.
