Shortening the curve…

As with anything “new”, there is a learning curve; and learning curves suck. You can plan, prepare and study, but there’s just some things that can’t be put into words that can be read in books. Sometimes you just have to live it. Gain that “experience”. The kind of experience that is life’s subtle reminder that you don’t actually know shit.

That’s what it’s like. You know there’s a learning curve; but deep down inside you don’t think it’ll affect you. You think to yourself, I got this. So you go for it. You seek out all the information you can possibly find on it, spend days and nights obsessed with devouring the subject, build up your internal confidence of your grasp of it, then: Step.

Riiiiight off that edge into the reality of the abyss that awaited you but for some reason wasn’t discussed, talked about, or mentioned in anything you’ve read or by any of the people you talked to. Yaaaay!

I’ve heard people refer to this process as, “The F@%kening”. That moment when life thinks you’re a bit too cocky and decides to knock you down a bit. Give you a nice solid dose of reality…right up the backside.

See, I’m familiar with this process because I have an intimate relationship with the f@%kening. I’ve grown accustomed to the process and find myself less and less surprised by it when it happens. Some would say, that it’s due to being overtly confident, too impulsive, or not paying attention to the details. But, who are those people; and who asked for their opinion anyway? I didn’t.

A to B, B to C, C to D, and so on and so on, etc. Until you figure out how to short cut B, to jump to C, then eventually eliminate C and go from A to D. Right?! Simple.

Find out the order, process, time constraints, etc. to each, then cut, cut, cut, everywhere you possibly can to shorten the process yet achieve the same objective. THAT’S where my brain goes. Every time. Doesn’t really matter what it is. It could be a task of folding laundry and in my head I’m looking for ways to make it end faster and still have folded laundry that resembles folded laundry.

It’s not being lazy, per se…it’s just more like, why do we have ta do all these steps?…when we could be eating delicious burgers and watching Netflix?

It should work the same, right? Yes. It should. I agree.

But sometimes it doesn’t and those steps matter. Big time. And if ya miss them, just one, the whole thing turns ta shit. It’s annoying. Frustrating, to say the least. But that’s where that eXpEriEnCe shit, comes in. There is almost always someone, somewhere, that was doing what you are tryin ta do and tried to shorten the process. Guaranteed. So you can talk ta that person and get the scoop in advance on what you are tryin ta do and why it won’t or will work, or just muddle thru trial and error. I’d like to claim to be smart enough to ask all the time, but history has proven that to be false.

However…when you do get it, when you actually shorten the process and shorten that learning curve…it’s a beautiful thing. It’s like the heavens opened up and God smiled down on you from above; and your all like, Seeee bishes! BOOM! WHERE have I been all this time!? Nailed it! Suck it life! S U U U C K IT!! HA!

…those moments don’t come as often as the other times, but I’d rather not talk about it.
