Been seeing posts recently about an Executive Order that Biden signed insuring that people who are Transgender can be allowed to compete in women’s sports. People who are familiar with the difference in the biology of men and women are naturally concerned. This poses a bit of a challenge to millions of women all across the globe who may have had aspirations of obtaining scholarships or pursuing a career in sports. But I don’t really care about that.
I mean of course that’s a ridiculous concept to me and I struggle with the rationale behind allowing that. Seems like common sense that you aren’t protecting women or being a Champion of women’s rights by allowing that. But hey, wha’do I know?
What bothers me, is what I’ve been seeing from believers in response to it.
Of course I’ve seen the standard it’s a sin, it’s against God and Nature, etc. Quoting scriptures in an effort to support their reasoning and logic behind the statements. But even that didn’t really bother me too much. I mean, that’s to be expected, right? Pretty typical response. Nothin new ta see there; and I see nothing wrong with letting people know what the Good Book reads.
But then I came across a Christian Group thread on FaceBook; and it asked the question: Should Transgender people be allowed in church?
The comments on that thread scoobied me. The ridiculous assertions, the ignorance of the book they claim to know and profess their faith to, was mind boggling.
“No. Unless they are willing to give up their past life and stop sinning they shouldn’t be allowed in church” – Slowdimwittedsockpuppet
“Absolutely not without a true confession of sins and a surrendering to the plans that God has for their life; one without Transgender” – Superdumbbutwithfancytitlesockpuppet
Wait…wut?
Call me crazy, but I’m not sure that’s how it works. I’m not sure that’s how any of this works. If it did…we’d all be screwed.
My dad was a pastor and that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m aces on all thing pastoring; but there’s one thing that without a doubt my dad got right, and that was: “we take everybody”. E V E R Y B O D Y.
God ain’t waiting for you to clean up before you’re welcome. That’s a man-made imposed thing. Not God; and it’s illogical at best. How is someone supposed to stop sinning, give up their past life, confess their sins, or surrender to God’s plan, etc if they can’t hear the Truth?
The Truth, of grace, mercy, forgiveness, redemption, salvation, true healing; not just for me or just for you, but for everyone.
What’s so hard to understand about that? You don’t clean yourself up; God cleans you up! You come filthy, dirty, sinning, with issues, etc. You come in a suit or jeans and a t-shirt. It’s not about how you look to the rest of the world; God sees the true you.
…And when you do that, when you forget about all that crap that the world tries to impose on you, you put yourself in a position to grow and change; NOT according to other peoples time frame, according to God’s time frame. And it’s a crazy thing, but God understands psychology better than we do. He really does. So much so, that He knows the perfect time and the perfect way to show us our sin…and the perfect patience needed for us to grow and make the changes in our life that we need to make at the very precise time and moment we need to make them.
So, just to be clear, if you’re LGBT, a thief, a liar, a fornicator, or any other type of something that throws you into the category of a sinner, the church you go to may not want you; but God does. Don’t ever forget that. And you don’t have to put on your Sunday best; come as you are. God does the cleaning; man doesn’t, and you can’t. So leave that up to Him.
As a believer, we have been called to be Rag Pickers. The dirty rags that are sometimes torn or frayed; they’ve lost their value, easily dismissed and discarded. People pass by them on the street every day; leaving them in the gutter. Our job is to see that rag the way God sees them; and to pick them up, take them to the source, and let the source do its work to make them clean again.
Don’t quote me scripture and attempt to “witness” to me if you’re not willing to do that. I will eat you. Your “sin” is no better or worse than these. Remember that, and behave accordingly.
