If you are anything like I am, you tend to do your best to figure out any given situation you are in. Once you’ve done that a few times you’ll begin to attempt to recognize a pattern and you’ll anticipate things happening at certain times given certain circumstances have taken place. Things work well anticipating certain events in this way, until they don’t.
Up until the moment that things don’t go as planned and life kicks you an unexpected curve ball and you get dealt a hand of suck that you get ta deal with. It’s typically at those moments when I get the most frustrated and end up recounting my steps in an effort to avoid such circumstances in the future. Because well, in my arrogance, I feel that I can in some way affect the outcome of certain events based on my actions. Some things are like that. Some things are easily created or avoided by our behavior. But it’s the things that can’t be controlled or manipulated by ourselves that we all seem to have the most problems with and tend ta blame God. Which is quite fascinating, considering we are often all keen on giving ourselves a list of excuses when our own actions have caused us problems, but when it’s something out of our control, in “God’s hands”, we can be quite unforgiving and no amount of excuses or reasons will do for why something hasn’t worked out.
I’ll admit ta having taken God ta task on more than a few unexpected, unplanned, unprepared for events that have taken place in my life. And why not, he’s “God” right?….he can take it.
But should he? Should he just take it…Probably not.
God really shouldn’t have ta take any shit from us. On any level. For any reason. Afterall, God is in heaven and we are down here on earth…what the frick do we know?!
But he does. He takes our anger and our frustrations. He listens to our well laid out plans and efforts to control the outcome of our lives. Working, planning, and preparing as if we have any control of say in any of it. We don’t pray for “God’s Will” in our lives; we pray for the things “we” want. You rub the bottle and then the Genie gives you three wishes and then you pick and you wishes get granted. THAT is how it’s supposed ta go! So, I just don’t always understand what’s God’s problem. Did he not get the frickin memo?!
It’s really easy ta get frustrated with God when you have that concept of God in your mind. Really easy. Because sometimes that dog don’t hunt. And there are times when you really need that dog ta hunt.
….or at least you think you do.
See, that’s the problem. It’s not your job to think about or figure out all the details to whatever is going on in your life. You don’t have ta know every detail or outcome to every situation. Some things are PURPOSELY beyond your control. For the sole purpose of your expected and intended purpose of relying on God. It is FOR THAT REASON, that some things are set just out of reach. Just a bit beyond your grasp or beyond your ability. So that you are constantly reminded of the vastness of this Universe and your place in it. Keeps you quite humble.
So your Job, you’re only role in anything, is to simply do anything and everything that you do, in the absolute best way you know and have the ability to do it…and the rest, is up ta God.
Did you read that? YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR BEST. Your BEST! In any given situation. Then leave the outcome to God. The outcome is not your job. The results of any given thing is not up to you. YOU aren’t in control of everything that goes on in your life. You can only control YOU. You can’t control other people, other places, other things that you may encounter. None of any of that is any of your business or under any of your control. You can only control you. So do that. Work, develop the skills, the ability, to control you and your actions, your behavior. Give things your absolute best…and then leave the rest ta God.
Kinda scary isn’t it?
Damn shit scary. Like, what if something happens and I don’t know it’s gonna happen and it happens anyway and Ima unprepared for it? That shits gonna happen anyway! The difference is, instead of worrying about things that isn’t your job ta worry about, you’ll be focusing on the things in your life that is your job ta worry about. Things that are within your ability to control; like doing your best. In whatever task or duty that is placed in front of you. That’s all you have to do. You don’t have to play God…you just have to rely on him to take care of what you can’t.

***Regardless of the job, the relationship, the business we’re in, etc. our ONLY task is to do the very best we can do with what we are given. It’s really that simple. All the effort and time we spend breaking our brains trying to figure out how everything will work is wasted. It’s a fruitless endeavor based in ignorance. We simply have to show up ready and prepared to give whatever it is our all. Give it everything we’ve got and how it ultimately turns out, is in God’s hands. If we have done our part, in our job, in our relationships, in business endeavors, etc., any offense given will be judged and dealt with accordingly; by a Righteous God with Righteous judgement. That’s just how it works. Some people call it Karma. But everyone eventually gets what’s coming to them; and you will too. Do your best and give your all in all that you do, so that what comes to you is good.
****There is a price to be paid in this life for the things we do and how we behave. Consequences we can’t out run from. Are you truly doing your best at your job? Are you truly giving your all in your relationship? You want a raise, you want a better relationship, etc. are you actually putting forth the effort to obtain or maintain the jobs or relationships that you have? Or have you silently given up? Are you mailing it in? So focused on what other people are doing that you’ve stopped paying attention to yourself? Maybe you should stop that shit. Maybe you should stop worrying about how the company you work for does things and how your mate behaves and simply focus on the only person you can control? Maybe you should simply work on developing YOU…and let God handle the rest.
