Ever notice how when something bad happens people who are incapable of doing anything about it tend to respond with pointless one liners like, “You’re in my thoughts and prayers!”. Your close relative could have just died; a parent or sibling, and people be like, “Oh so sorry for your loss, you’ll be in my thoughts and prayers”. As if in some magical way them sayin that will bring a loved one back or make you feel better about it.
Better yet, you just lose your job, your vehicle breaks down, you got a shit ton of bills stacking up, and someone says, “I’ll be prayin for you!”. Seriously!? What I need is a paycheck, biotch! Your tHoUgHtS aNd pRaYeRs aren’t gonna put food on my damn table!
….And there’s typically always someone on a thread that says just that. They read the thoughts and prayers posts and they scoff. Afterall, the concept of prayer is just a religious thing; not to be taken seriously, right?
Is it? Or is there something more to it?
Over the last few days I have scoured over countless articles, blurbs, books, studies, etc.; faith based and secular, all of which discuss thinking and speaking positively, the concept of energy transference, the physical and mental benefits of it. Hundreds of thousands of seemingly endless amounts of information on the subject; over centuries. All pointing to something, that connects all of us, on a intangible, microfanagibliananoiaquantum level. Yes, I made that word up. Why? Because science doesn’t know what it is. They can’t quantify it….but, they acknowledge that it’s there!
My initial intention was lay it all out and provide links to everything I read in an effort to more greatly solidify my argument in a more gooder way. Unfortunately, the weight of the daunting task of doing that weighed heavily on my personal well being and I decided against it. I’ve simply come to the conclusion that the information is there. It’s all right there for anyone and everyone who is truly interested in it to find; and I can provide no greater resource than what has already been given. If by through the most basic means, such as the bible, or some random internet search, in which you use to grasp the concept: That there is a unseen power transference that takes place when people pray.
Think about the ramifications of that. Seriously. Like, all this time, you got these low wit bible thumpers at church all prayin for each other and putting their hands on each other in prayer. Interceding for each other. Holding hands and weeping for each other. Crying out ta God.
IDIOTS! FOOLISHNESS!
….but maybe not. Maybe, in their ignorance of the science of it, they’ve inadvertently tapped into one of the greatest secrets of the Universe….our ability to connect and influence outcomes with fervent prayer.
The Bible says prayer can move mountains. But you don’t have ta believe it. Instead, you can recognize and acknowledge countless articles and read studies about how talking positively to plants helps them grow. The Bible says that we should, “Pray without ceasing”. But you don’t have to engage in such silliness. Instead, you can simply read about how positive thoughts and influences will actually help your body heal. Reciting words. That have impact. On your physical tangible body. Weird.
See, you can choose to dismiss, ALL OF THE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF information available, from both faith based and secular resources. But then, you’d be an idiot; and an arrogant one at that.
I don’t profess to understand or know how it all works. I can simply say, with my limited grasp on the subject, that when life put me up against the rails, when all else has failed, prayer has worked.
I pray it’s the same for you.

***I’m not opposed to “doing”. Truly not. I think if you have the ability to “do” something you should. But I also think that when you have done all you can do that is within your ability to do, and what needs done still isn’t done, then you should pray. I think this life purposely, deliberately puts us in situations and circumstances that REQUIRE us to pray. Things happen that are out of our control and we are in no other position than to let it go and give it to God.
****No, you don’t have to believe the same as me. Ima Christian. You don’t have ta share my faith. I believe the laws of Creation do not change and are not altered simply because you do not believe in them. I speak about what I believe as a Christian because it is my faith. I believe in the Christ. You however, may not. I STILL believe that your prayers are heard. I still believe God hears you, like a child that doesn’t quite get their fathers name right. And when you down in it, and the shit is deep, I KNOW he hears you when you call his name. Because I’ve been there, and he heard me.
So this is my prayer, to you, dear reader….I pray that you no longer smirk at the concept of prayer. I pray that it’s power is made real to you. That it’s proved relevant. So that in that moment you will know, God knows you…he knows all about you; and that you are loved.
*****There IS power in prayer. You don’t have ta understand it. But you can employ it. You can harness it. Tap into the wisdom of the ages. To that which holds all the secrets of the Universe. When all that is left to do has been done: Pray.
