The need to understand. Type fives are in the know. About everything. Or at least, they try to be. They have a distinct need to understand. Very analytical in their in their approach. Type fives don’t do anything without thoroughly thinking it through. As a result, they tend to be some of the smartest people in the room.
Their desire for knowledge is coupled with the fact that they can do just fine on their own. They are more than happy to spend hours alone studying, reading, or working on a project that interests them. They prefer to work behind the scenes. Often feeling “detached” from the people around them. Resulting in somewhat “awkward” social encounters; that type fives end up pondering for a long time afterwards.
Type fives are known for creating quite large elaborate worlds inside their minds that they use as a means of escape and solace from the outside world. They will avoid things that draw unwanted attention to them. Type fives are not really “team players”. Anything that involves being in a group, is something type fives choose to avoid.
Type fives can be viewed as arrogant and stingy. They aren’t the type to loan or let you borrow things from them; and they play things just as close when it comes to what they know. They equate the knowledge that they’ve learned as something that was hard earned and not yours. Type fives are not givers.
Their root sin is: Greed. They are constantly seeking more. More in knowledge, more in possessions and material things, with absolutely no thoughts of sharing or what it could do to help others. They have been described as “hoarders”. Although that doesn’t just apply to material possessions. Natural introverts.
Type fives need to learn that all knowledge and material possessions come from God. They would be wise to remember that they are stewards. As such, they should use their knowledge and possessions for the benefit of the people around them. Work to develop a sense of empathy. Become a giver. Learn to give of yourself freely.
